Joining Explorers

If you are from outside Scouting
You can join Explorer Scouts from the age of 13.5!   Just contact us via the home page and we will contact you back with your unit options.  Come and join in the fun and give it a try.  When you feel ready you can be invested (going into uniform).

If you are a Scout
You should aim to join Explorer Scouts from the age of 14!   Contact us and work with your Scout Leader to complete your Moving-On award.   You should aim to be invested as an Explorer Scout by 14.5 at the latest!

If you are aged 14-18 and help with Beavers/Cubs/Scouts
You MUST join the Explorer Young Leader training scheme in order to receive important training in dealing with children and their issues correctly (child protection).  You are not authorised to work with younger sections until you do this, so you must complete your module A training as soon as possible.  See the Units link on the left for more details of this unit.  The YL unit meets just once per month and you will be assigned mentor to help you develop your skills.  It is worth noting that it is recommended that you should not be helping a Scout Troop you have just left until you have been absent from that troop for at least 1 year!
